Rule number one: There are no rules.
Rule number two: When in doubt, see rule number one.
Rule number three: You are a stranger here, once. Act accordingly. Above all, enjoy yourself.
Room number four: As it relates to the reception, the food, and the wine, you are on your own. There is always more wine in the kitchen, more food in the refrigerator and in the pantry. Please make yourself at home as if you own the place.
Rule number five: After Vicki and I go to bed following a 1 - ½ hour concert and a three hour reception, last one out, turn out the lights and shut the front door.
Rule number six: (This really is a rule…) Do not park in the neighbor’s grass across the street. There is plenty of parking in the front of the hall and on Staunton Avenue. Also, the commercial buildings one and a half blocks away at MacCorkle Avenue always have parking, especially on weekends when our concerts are usually held; and it is a short walk.
Rule number seven: You MUST return to another concert, as “one and done” is unacceptable.
Rule number eight: At all times, observe rule number one.
The receptions are a big part of our concerts. Our guests enjoy wine and other social lubricants while they nibble on lots of goodies and talk to fellow concert-goers. The artists are always glad to stick around for the receptions, and on occasion, there might even be an encore played. On many occasions, these festivities have lasted up to two hours, maybe longer before everyone ambles out the door.
There is no admission charge; the concerts are always free. We do, however, put out a basket for donations to the artists. People have always been very generous. Bang for the buck: you won’t find any entertainment and food and drink like we have!!
